Brain Fish 161009 Cerebellum r50 vs. Fishbook 161016 vs. Fauzi 2.2

A rare tournament among the top chess engine books.

Brain Fish/Cerebellum by Thomas Zipproth is the current favorite and most actively maintained.

Fauzi 2.2 by Fauzi Akram Dabat was the strongest some time ago. It's newer and bigger sibling version 4.5 is presumed to be the strongest but is commercial and not publicly available.

Fishbook 161016 is a newcomer which started development starting August, 2016 to have an opening book that will be used for fair play when Brain Fish is the opponent in the rating list production.

The engines used for Fishbook and Fauzi is Shark 161010.

The result: Brain Fish smashed Fauzi 2.2 but was unable to crack Fishbook which even have a -5 score. Only Fishbook defeated both Brain Fish and Fauzi but Brain Fish was the champion by virtue of its devastating performance over Fauzi.

There will be a race of chasing tails between Cerebellum and Fishbook in the days ahead as each one tries to learn from each other and then use it to outdo the other.

  1. I thought fauzi was already a couple years old or am I wrong? By the way, do you think its better to let brainfish only use cerebellum, or to use an opening book like sicilian king 3.ctg?

    1. Do you have the latest Fauzi 4.5? I would be glad if you could send me so that I would have a chance to test it.

Yes, without Cerebellum, BrainFish is like a regular Stockfish. The tournament you see is BrainFish with Cerebellum.

I could not test .ctg books because I am exclusively using Arena. You may try to do it and give me feedback.

  2. Yeah, I just thought it wasn't fair to test a book that old against up to date books like cerebellum and fishbook, but it actually did better than I expected. Also I tested the october 6th version of cerebellum against 1337 chess pro 030616, Sicilian King 3, Amalia evil, and Classic 2 (all ctg) Cerebellum won pretty convincingly against all the books but classic 2 ctg( the most recent version) to which it lost. However I am now testing classic 2 ctg against cerebellum October 16th release, and so far the results are looking pretty even
