The Week in Chess

About

This site is about computer chess engines, tournaments, rating lists, news and other information related to chess.

Why another chess engines site?  It is created for fun, education and entertainment. The author missed the years when chess engines were in rapid progress.  So, there were many missing information or history that are not in other sites which the author is trying to search and recreate.  For example, why are the Ippolit family of chess of engines are full of controversy and why is it that they are not featured in full in the popular rating list sites?

Objectives:

- To create a rating list site with very short time control of just 1 minute base + 1 second increment to compare with others who have even shorter time controls such as FastGms and those with longer time controls such as CCRL, CEGT and IPON.

- To find out whether the shorter time controls are statistically credible and rating programs like ORDO or BayesELO are reliable.

- To find out which chess engines are the best in blitz 1 minute + 1 second time control, 32/64bit CPU and single/multi core testing environment.

- Try to produce patterns of computer chess advancement over the years by including the old engines, superseded versions and maybe even controversial chess engines.
